Just weeks after the fiery destruction of a swath of Kings Park, WA botanists have unveiled a breakthrough in understanding how plants regenerate after bushfires. Researchers at the UWA and Kings Park and Botanic Garden have identified a new family of molecules.

YAGAN WARRIOR OF THE NOONGAR PEOPLE
Yagan (c.1795-1833) was an Aboriginal warrior of the Noongar (Nyungar) people in Western Australia. His statue is located on Heirisson Island, Perth Western Australia. Sulptured by Robert Hitchcock, the Yagan statue was officially unveiled by Yagan Committee chairperson Elizabeth Hanson, on 11th September 1984.

MEMORIAL PARK FOR NOONGAR WARRIOR
More than 170 years after Yagan's death, the head of the Noongar warrior will be buried at a memorial park in the Swan Valley. The Department of Indigenous Affairs has given the City of Swan more than $500,000 to develop the park in his honour.
